Argillo-calcareo che conferisce struttura e complessitÃ
The Vacqueyras from Château des Tours belongs to that rare school in which the power of the southern Rhône becomes an act of finesse. We are in the heart of the appellation, at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail, a territory granted AOC status in 1990 yet celebrated centuries earlier by Avignon merchants for its "quiet strength." The 2012 vintage brings forth, with time, the noblest side of the blend: Grenache in the lead, supported by Syrah in a dialogue instantly recognizable to anyone who knows the wines of Emmanuel Reynaud. Grenache gives warmth, fruit, a softness carved by southern light; Syrah brings order, freshness, structure, shadows of black pepper. In the glass, 2012 never exaggerates. It moves slowly: ripe red berries, touches of garrigue, a sweet spice that feels more like an echo than an announcement. On the palate, density without heaviness; a fine, balanced texture carried by resolved tannins. The soils of Vacqueyras — stones, calcareous sands, red clays — offer a double soul: warmth and verticality. This is where the Reynaud signature is born: a power that never explodes, but breathes. The finish is typical of the estate: long, diffused, with a last spicy note that lingers more in memory than on the palate. A wine that does not aim to impress; it prefers to remain, quietly, enduringly.
